12th Air Command is in center of the Philadelphia gayborhood. In this gay bar, all shapes, sizes, and ethnicities are truly loved. The hipster shy boys, cocky college types, twinks, and bears all party together here. 12th Air Command welcomes everybody - even the lesbian community calls this place home.
For those craving the American Idol spotlight, certain nights are designated for karaoke (call ahead to check the schedule). Wednesday evenings are home to the $3 martini, and Fiesta Fridays are all about getting frisky with new friends. For all you drag lovers, be sure to stop up to the 2nd floor on Thursday nights, because Miss Sandy Beach hosts the USO drag show. We have only one comment, girlfriend, this is fierce.
For those of you looking to party with the young ones, don't miss Saturday night. This gay night club is not only a hot bed for dancing, but it attracts the sexy, barely legal crowd. You guessed it, on Saturday evening; it's 17 to hang out, and 21 to drink. Oooohhh, we're getting all steamy just thinking about the firm, taut bodies grinding up on each other on the dance floor.
And, if you are looking to slow things down a bit, then stick to the ground floor and laze about with the lounge lizards. There is also the Canteen Cafe, which is great for cruising guys, and the grub is pretty good too.
During the summer months, the 3rd level, the SkyeLounge, has a roof deck that is deliciously romantic for steamy nights with a newfound lover. The cocktails are fabulous, and a night spent canoodling under the stars makes for celestial bliss. You could easily loose yourself in the midst of the dreamy view of the West side of Center City. This Philly gay hot spot definitely commands a seductive audience.
I stop by here on a fairly regular basis - it's an easy bar to hit after work or after dinner with friends. Laid back bar -some fun events and good bartenders - but some nights are just kind of quiet (I'm sure the crowd picks up after I head out to hit the road back home - I live in the burbs ). Cool Bar - Nice Staff - Fun Crowd
Pretty new to Philly here... I've been to 12th Air several times. A really cool, laid back bar. Great friendly staff. Very welcoming. Nice crowd - I'm 35 - and feel right at home! By: Tim on December 12, 2007
