JR's Bar and Grill has been a part of the Dallas bar scene for more than twenty-five years, changing with the times to stay on the cutting edge while retaining the unpretentious Texas flavor which has made it feel like a second home to many ever since the day that it first opened. This Dallas bar is open seven days a week and offers great drink specials which make it possible to keep it going all night long without spending a fortune. Alternatively, it's a terrific spot for stopping in for a single drink before heading out elsewhere on the town.
JR's Bar and Grill is favored by people traveling to Dallas for business, because it has that home-away-from-home kind of feel to it while still offering up some of the genuine Texas style. Free wireless internet makes it possible to complete business transactions or get caught up on email while playing hookie on a sunny Dallas afternoon.
JR's is a terrific neighborhood bar where newcomers are surprisingly welcome and the cocktails are plenty!
Things get kicked up a notch each night with live entertainment hitting the stage some time between nine and eleven. There is a mixture to the array of offerings, with alternative music Mondays, twice-weekly drag shows and pool tournaments all mingling amongst the grilling of burgers and downing of drinks. The design of the bar is open and airy, evoking the mood of open space for which Texas is known, so you can easily gather here with a group of friends or get ready to meet someone new.
The hot spot tends to be the upper level deck which overlooks Cedar Springs and all the foot traffic below. Friendly bartenders, pool tables, videos, and a great outdoor space make this the perfect Dallas watering hole for the gay crowd.
If you're in Dallas - you've got to stop by JR's. The upstairs balcony is great for people watching below, and the downstairs bar area is big - and always packed with people. Great bartenders (you'll find lots of female bartenders here - and they are great) - and fun music and videos. The place does die down later in the night - but it's a great place to start your night.
